31 Day Challenge

This MSN article inspired me to undertake the formation of micro-habits with hopes of eventually eliminating certain giga-habits that have been plagueing me year after year. I gravitated to the lady who decided to do push-ups every day for 31 days. Much like her, I  used to be active and I also suffered from the all-or-nothing approach to exercise. Actually, my all-or-nothing approach extends past my workout style, but that is a post for another day. The premise behind the challenge is to make small adjustments in your life and maintain it for 31 days. This allows the person to divide the major goal into attainable mini-goals, thus avoiding cycle of rejected, disheartened feelings that accompany when the major goal remains to be out of reach. This is a very highly effective technique. Surprisingly, I am very aware of this methodology yet I did not bother utilizing it until now. Maybe it’s the push-up lady or maybe it’s the fact that I am approaching the big 3-0. I do know that right now I am quite motivated to accomplish this challenge.

My challenge started on Monday. Instead of push-ups, I opted for sit-ups, every day for 31 days. My chiropractor has been telling me to incorporate more abdominal work for the past few months now. This is my chance especially since I do not want to go back and see him every month anymore. First week is almost over and I am already noticing a change in my posture.
